Joseph Schartz is Director of Communications and Public Relations at Midco, a regional telecommunications provider headquartered in Sioux Falls, South Dakota. He received his Bachelor of Science in journalism from South Dakota State University and his Master of Public Policy degree from Georgetown University, where he conducted research on the impact of state-level earned income tax credit programs on poverty. After working in several communications, public policy and campaign roles in South Dakota and Washington, D.C, he joined the Marine Corps and continues to serve as a reservist intelligence officer at Intelligence Support Battalion.
